thought we should have such thread... so here we go

in about a month or two i'm thinking to buy new computer, i'm not looking for something expensive also not a big fan of games. it's about time to replace this old amd k6-2 500 mhz monster
so for now i stopped on theres parts:

• CPU - Core 2 duo E6420 2.13 mhz 4mb cache (brand new )
• MB - Asus P5B P965 LGA775 DDR2 Dual, LAN and sound card built in
• RAM - 1gb ddr2 800 SUPER T CL5
• GFX card - GF 7300GT 128mb ddr3
• PSU - Fortron 400 W

what you think? yeah i know its better to have 2x512mb memory stick than a 1gb but i'll probably will get another 1gb later.

You should, having 2 GBs of RAM makes a world of difference.

just for the record, i actually dont need 2gb (wont put vista) but with with 2 sticks the computer runs faster than one

That's what I did when I bought my laptop.

Vista's full of bugs anyway, no one should buy it until Microsoft gets off their ass and releases some service packs. I've heard it's worse than XP was when it came out, which isn't surprising. Companies need to spend more time on beta testing than meeting deadlines--there's no benefit to the consumer if they buy a program released early that doesn't work like it should.

yeah tell me about it wont upgrade to vista at least when xp become very obsolete plus i dont think the whole directx 10 cards are necessary

i actually got a free version of Vista when i bought my computer but i haven't installed it yet. I haven't heard any feed back about so i figured i would just wait, that and the fact that my computer is only 3 months old and i don't feel like going through and trying to reinstall everything again when everything is fine already. If and when i do i should be good for RAM so far i have a 1 gb and a 256 mb and i plan on popping out the 256 and putting another 1gb in it's place

yeah for vista is good to having atleast 2gb

forgot to mention that my processor will be box which will add extra cooling

i installed my free version of vista worst mistake imaginable it is not compatiable with anything once i figure out how to remove it i will not worth spit
